The successful candidate will be comfortable creating meaningful relationships with physicians, executives and other stakeholders at existing Shields partner hospitals. A typical day requires significant preparation reviewing data on partner hospitals, Shields business data, mapping out team responsibilities and partnering for success. 


  • Partner with inside sales team and also independently identify sales prospects
  • Engage with Business Development and Operations management to produce a full territory plan
  • Understand the health systems needs and requirements
  • Identify key physicians and decision makers in targeted health systems (Medical, Pharmacy, C-Suite)
  • Ensure the appropriate credentials to actively sell in the hospital system (compliance training, rep trax, hospital security clearance, etc.)
  • Call on C-Suite CEO/CFO/Chief Strategy Officer, VP of Pharmacy, Heads of Nursing, Chief Medical Officer, Chief of each clinic (ability to hold a conversation with different specialties about the care regimen)
  • Network with Drug company reps in geography to make Shields become known entity with drug/biologic companies for future LDD expansion
  • Perform sales presentations of varying varieties and different messages depending on the target audience within the hospital
  • Build presentations based on Shields message to cater to individual hospitals and the target audience, adapting to hospital specific market conditions
  • Leverage existing Shields hospitals for networking purposes
  • As the subject matter expert, research health systems, stay abreast of current specialty pharmacy developments, and provide competitive intelligence back to Shields on local market dynamics
  • Close meetings with key decision makers and engage internal resources as appropriate
  • Utilize SalesForce to create pipeline of weekly sales activities and forecasts
  • Create and grow $5M of new Shields earnings per year
  • Conduct hospital in-services on specialty pharmacy space and the care model to medical personnel
  • Perform duties on local level according to hospital sales policies, state laws, etc.


  • Experience  4 year college degree: MBA or Masters preferred
  • Concentration in Healthcare or Pharmacy is a plus
  • Experience in selling in to hospital systems (medical device/pharmaceutical/capital equipment) or selling channel partnerships with hospitals preferred.
