General description:

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a SQL Engineer who will be responsible for designing complex SQL solutions using scripting stored procedures for reporting and web back end processes. They will also work with other developers optimizing   SQL statements as necessary, and establishing best practices.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with internal and external customers to understand their information needs and have the ability rapidly prototype solutions. They will also be able to clearly communicate new features and issues at all levels in the organization.

 

Specific Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency with SQL preferably with Postgres or Oracle
  • Skilled at optimizing complicated SQL statements knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
  • Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
  • Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as {{Git / Mercurial / SVN}}
  • Proficiency with linux scripting and tools  - crontab, bsh, python, Javascript
  • Understanding of ETL design, data cleansing and processing
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or writing stored procedures  is required, preferably in a healthcare industry
  • Experience in Data Mining (i.e., SQL, ETL, complex data warehouses)
  • EMR and Healthcare claims data experience
  • Comfortable with building analytics using BI tools, such as Qlikview or Tableau
  • Familiarity working in a lean entrepreneurial environment where continuous innovation is desired and ambiguity is the norm.

 

Required Licensure/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required with major course work in computer science, business information systems, or a related field required

Years of Experience: Required 3-5 years, Preferred 5+ years experience

 Job Duties:

  • Develop SQL queries and stored procedure to satisfy data and reporting requirements.
  • Design, build and maintain ETL pipelines to support data and analytical needs.
  • Design and develop data warehouse platform, capabilities, data schemas, and models
  • Build integrations with third-parties to link their data to our systems based on standardized formats such as HL7 using tools such as python
  • Manage multiple concurrent database and software development projects using a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), such as Agile Scrum
  • Troubleshoot data issues, validate result sets, recommend and implement process improvements
  • Identify and correct issues relating to database performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Ensure the quick implementation of mass data change requests and complex report/data extraction requests ensuring the impact on existing applications is adequately analyzed
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements, design, coding, user acceptance testing, quality assurance, deployment, and administration
  • Addresses data integrity issues as they arise
  • Document production process flows
  • Other duties as assigned;
